R Returning on May 10–11, the 2nd Drydockers Regatta brings together professionals from across the maritime sector for two days of racing, connection, and community spirit.
Following the success of its inaugural edition, Drydockers once again brings together maritime executives – from seasoned sailors to first-time sea enthusiasts – for a unique two-day experience at sea, combining friendly competition with a spirit of camaraderie.
The bar is already high, after last year’s impressive response, with 150 participants from more than 25 shipping companies, on 17 sailing boats. This year, the participation is expected to be even higher, and the experience for the participants even more impressive.
All boats at the event will be provided by Drydockers, each with an experienced skipper. These single-hull boats, designed for comfort and high performance, can accommodate up to 10 people in addition to the skipper.
Teams will be formed per company, while individual participants or smaller teams are combined to form balanced crews. No previous sailing experience is required, as the skippers guide and support the participants throughout the event. Thus, everyone can sail at their own pace, either by taking an active part in the race or simply enjoying the scenic journey.
But beyond a sports event, the Drydockers Regatta is an opportunity for maritime executives to network, relax, and share the joy of sailing with colleagues from all over the industry. In this spirit, this year’s event also incorporates an important corporate social responsibility action, in collaboration with the Municipality of Aegina. More specifically, on May 11, a beach clean-up will take place, enabling participants to contribute to the protection of the wonderful coastline of the Saronic Gulf and raise awareness about sustainability.
Can Ozturk, CEO of Drydockers, said: “The Drydockers Regatta started as an idea to unite our passion for the sea with the need for meaningful professional networking. We are pleased to see that it is evolving into an institution for the industry, and this year, we are raising the bar even higher!”
