O ne year after expanding its solar panel installations to 1,200 square meters, Arcadia Yachts has converted approximately 300,000 kWh into electricity, covering 70% of its 2023 energy needs. Looking ahead, the shipyard is developing new solutions for its upcoming models to enhance onboard comfort and increase energy autonomy, reinforcing its dedication to sustainable innovation.
About 12 months on from the installation of 612 new solar panels manufactured by Sunerg Solar, bringing the total surface area covered at Arcadia Yachts’ Gulf of Sorrento production facility to 1,200 square metres, the company has self-generated approximately 300,000 kWh of electricity. Representing 70% of the shipyard’s energy requirement in 2023, this result delivers not only a clear benefit in terms of clean energy production, but also an unequivocal advantage for the company, which has reduced its consumption of ‘traditional’ energy by over 40% in just one year, feeding the remaining 30% of the total converted from solar energy into the public grid.
Arcadia Yachts intends to stay at the forefront in this field and is also evaluating new technology solutions to install on upcoming boats – both models already in the range and those under development – to offer owners a clear improvement in terms of on-board comfort, particularly in the evening, as well as greater energy autonomy. The focus of this further improvement to life at sea is the use on one hand of latest generation components for the photovoltaic panels and power storage systems, and on the other of software designed to optimise on-board load management and energy consumption.
“Arcadia was born green! We started with our yachts in 2010, keeping a close eye on possible efficiencies and developments, especially by monitoring other sectors similar to our own. The improvement we are implementing on our products is an evolution driven by constantly changing technological possibilities. The smart innovator approach is in our DNA, so in a few years’ time we’re sure we’ll be able to offer on-board energy management solutions that also leverage Artificial Intelligence. We’re also very proud of our recent green investment in our production facility. After completing the investment about a year ago, we set ourselves the goal of a significant environmental improvement, starting from the yachts’ production journey and not just their use. We’re delighted with the results we’ve achieved and, backed up by the substantial economic return on the initiative, hope to once again be a pioneer in the industry,” commented Ugo Pellegrino, sole director of the shipyard, which has always fought to reduce its environmental impact, not least in view of the authentic and profound relationship with nature suggested by the brand name.
