B orn from the engineering expertise and industrial strength of West Navaltech, Forte Yachts enters the Italian boatbuilding scene with precision, essential design and timeless aesthetics. The debut model Forte 47 is already under construction, promising a refined yet authentic approach to modern yachting.
With 1,300 sqm of covered area and 1,800 sqm of hard standing, West Navaltech in Ameglia near La Spezia has, over the past few years, become a trusted name in the construction of high-performance steel and aluminium workboats ranging from 14 to 50 metres. Its portfolio includes specialized vessels such as fire department boats, a fully electric catamaran, a tugboat, and several aluminium passenger vessels. The company also supplies aluminium hulls, superstructures, watertight doors, and other components to major shipyards along the Miglio Blu, the renowned yacht-building district near La Spezia.
“The creation of Forte Yachts marks a strategic expansion,” says Technical Manager and partner Livio Franchini. “We wanted to separate our workboat production from our leisure brand, keeping both worlds independent but complementary.”
With Forte Yachts, West Navaltech’s technical legacy meets a new creative vision. Co-founder Fernando Moricca describes the new brand as “a response to the desire to reinterpret the sea with respect, competence and style.”
The brand name “Forte” carries a double meaning. It refers to strength – inspired by aluminium’s durability and the Italian word for strong – and pays homage to Forte dei Marmi, the iconic seaside town known for style and Italian elegance. “We were in Forte dei Marmi when the name came to us,” says Moricca. “It just fits: short, Italian, global, and evocative.”
Usability & Versatility
Unlike many mass-produced boats, Forte Yachts positions itself in a more refined and exclusive segment. As Paolo Giordano, Head of Design, explains: “We’re inspired by the design and quality of superyachts, but on a smaller and more accessible scale.”
Crafted in aluminium – West Navaltech’s specialty – the 14.3-metre Forte 47 emphasizes spaciousness, versatility and day-to-day usability. Its walkaround deck, modular aft deck and open day-use layout combine to offer surprising internal volume, including two full-height cabins and two bathrooms – a rarity in this size range.
The hull, engineered by Umberto Tagliavini of Marine Design, reflects decades of experience in developing efficient, seaworthy forms tailored for both performance and comfort.
“Thanks to our full-beam construction and the strategic use of asymmetrical walkways, we’ve eliminated unnecessary steps and optimized internal volumes,” explains Giordano. “Even below deck ceiling heights exceed two meters.”
The Forte 47 is available in outboard and inboard versions, with slight layout adjustments depending on engine configuration. This flexibility was designed to match real-world usage, such as Monte Carlo to Porto Cervo and back, or a round-trip between Miami and the Bahamas. Designed for day cruising or weekend escapes, the Forte 47 also works perfectly as a stylish chase boat.
With its strong industrial roots and refined luxury vision, Forte Yachts enters the market with credibility, confidence, and a product designed to perform as beautifully as it looks.
