A telier Invictus and designer Fabio Rotella infuse the TT460 with a fresh, sustainable vision — transforming the brand’s iconic flagship into a design statement of refined modernity.
Shell Edition: Living the sea
Fabio Rotella brings a rich creative heritage, his uncle Mimmo Rotella was a prominent figure in international Pop Art, and extensive design experience through his eponymous Studio Rotella, with offices in Milan, Beijing, and Malta. Onboard the TT460 Shell Edition, Rotella, working closely with Atelier Invictus, has introduced innovative technical and stylistic solutions: new materials, interior coverings, accessories, and refined finishes that establish a fresh design language.
“This is my first professional foray into nautical design, a world I’ve long embraced as a passionate enthusiast,” explains Fabio Rotella. “I see the boat as a gateway to experiencing nature. Hence the name ‘Shell Edition’, a metaphor for a vessel that, like a shell in the sea, welcomes, protects and embraces. At a time when yacht design often mimics domestic interiors, losing the essence of the sea, I chose a different path: envisioning the boat not as a floating house but as a living organism that breathes with the water, dialogues with the wind and is illuminated by natural light.”
Rotella’s approach is rooted in naturalism: modern and refined aesthetics that are distinctive yet understated, simple but never sparse. Every material, fabric, and detail is carefully selected to create a sensory experience that reconnects sailors with nature, not merely a stay onboard but an authentic and profound immersion in the sea’s purest essence.
“For me, sailing is harmony,” Rotella continues. “Harmony with the environment, with oneself, and with the beauty surrounding us. That’s why my design refuses compromise, avoids fleeting trends and safe conventions. Instead, it proposes an aesthetic born from water, light, and wind, offering those who live this experience the rarest luxury: the feeling of being part of nature, not separate from it.”
This research-driven process has involved leading companies across multiple disciplines, helping shape a new design identity that is technological, sophisticated, and sustainable. Among the Shell Edition’s key innovations is the first-time use below deck of lightweight structural honeycomb panels for internal bulkheads and the entire outfitting. Made from recycled, unsinkable materials finished with natural wood veneers, these panels reduce the boat’s weight by 20%, delivering tangible benefits in fuel consumption and environmental impact.
Atelier Invictus: a hub of research, development and innovation
“Fabio Rotella’s creative vision found a proactive partner in Atelier Invictus, where extensive research into new materials and solutions enabled the TT460 to be reshaped to meet today’s demands for innovation and sustainability,” says Paolo Avellone, head of the Atelier laboratory.
“The interiors tell a story of fluid forms, natural colors, organic materials, and sensory textures—elements inspired by nature and rendered with elegance. Technology is discreetly integrated, while carefully calibrated lighting enhances a pervasive sense of well-being. The color palette draws from the natural world—sand, water, stone—with warm, balanced tones that strengthen the connection between yacht and landscape, design and nature. The exterior has been refreshed with new materials and finishes, enriched with decorative stitching inspired by natural shapes, giving the vessel a unique and unprecedented appearance. In an era when luxury is often mistaken with excess, the TT460 Shell Edition offers a deeper concept of luxury: living the sea in harmony and awareness, listening to what surrounds us.”
As with the Shell Edition, Atelier Invictus stands ready to realize the desires of owners seeking exclusive, tailor-made yachts. Serving as the creative and research heart of the shipyard, Atelier identifies new trends and transforms owner requests into concrete solutions.
“Most requests focus on aesthetic customization, but technical requirements are also common,” Avellone adds. “This is why we have organized specialized divisions dedicated to different areas and collaborate with consultants like Fabio Rotella, whose expertise from fashion and industry brings innovative and exclusive solutions.”
The Style and Interior Design division focuses on sourcing and implementing precious materials, woods, and fabrics, while embracing cutting-edge solutions like carbon fiber for high-impact components. The Harmony and Atmosphere team crafts minimalist yet rich environments, marked by nature-inspired color schemes and lighting designed to enhance well-being. External customization remains a hallmark of Invictus Yacht, now further elevated by Atelier’s work: there are 17 color options available, metallic and non-metallic, classic or extended versions, extendable even to the hull’s interior. Additionally, over 17 upholstery combinations coordinate with paint schemes, and interior layouts can be adapted within structural limits to fulfill owner preferences.
Last but not least, the Sustainability and Innovation department ensures a balanced approach between technology and ecology. Growing environmental awareness drives the search for eco-friendly materials that deliver luxury and comfort while respecting nature.
The public will have the opportunity to experience the Invictus TT460 Shell Edition live at boot Düsseldorf 2026, from January 17 to 25, Hall 5 – Stand C20.
