R MK Yachts introduces a new chapter in explorer yachting with Petra, a 50-metre concept developed in collaboration with Milan-based design studio Hot Lab. More than a single yacht, Petra unfolds as a trilogy of distinct visions, redefining how a modern explorer can adapt to different lifestyles at sea.

A Sculptural Approach to Exploration

Petra moves away from the purely utilitarian language of traditional explorer yachts, introducing a more architectural and emotionally driven design.

The concept draws inspiration from the form of an anvil, a starting point that translates into strong, sculptural lines and a distinctive stern profile. The result is a yacht that feels grounded and powerful, yet controlled and refined, balancing capability with a sense of quiet elegance.

This philosophy runs throughout the project. Spaces are shaped by light, proportion and flow, creating an onboard experience that feels deliberate rather than decorative.

Three Interpretations, One Platform

What sets Petra apart is its ability to adapt.

The concept is offered in three distinct versions, each designed around a different onboard lifestyle.

Aura leans towards a softer, more social atmosphere, with additional guest accommodation and generous communal areas designed for relaxed living and entertainment.

Core represents the most balanced expression of the project, focusing on intimacy, clarity and a more essential interpretation of space, ideal for owners who value simplicity and warmth.

Infinite expands the concept into a more adventurous direction, introducing features such as a helideck, hybrid propulsion options and ice-class capability, positioning it as a true long-range explorer built for remote destinations.

Materiality and Meaning

Petra’s identity is rooted in authenticity.

A steel hull and aluminium superstructure provide the necessary robustness for ocean-going performance, while interiors are envisioned through a palette of natural woods, stone, leather and textured fabrics. The approach avoids excess, favouring a calm, tactile environment that feels enduring rather than trend-driven.

This balance between engineering and atmosphere is where Petra finds its voice.

Designed for the Horizon

With a range of approximately 4,000 nautical miles and a top speed of 16 knots, Petra is conceived as a true ocean-going yacht.

Her ability to carry large tenders and transform onboard spaces, such as converting the garage into a beach club, reinforces her versatility. In its most advanced form, she is capable of reaching remote and demanding destinations, from isolated islands to polar regions.

A New Direction for Explorer Yachts

Petra signals a shift in how explorer yachts are conceived today.

It is no longer just about endurance and range, but about how design, flexibility and personal identity shape life onboard. RMK Yachts and Hot Lab present a platform that allows each owner to define their own version of exploration, not just where they go, but how they live along the way.
