S ialia Yachts, which made a splash in 2022 with the launch of its stunning 57-foot all-electric performance cruiser named Deep Silence, unveiled its latest model, the Sialia 45 Sport, earlier this year, continuing a seismic shift in the leisure boating sector.

Imagine a 14-metre full-specced performance cruiser capable of more than 40 knots, featuring all mod cons, exceptional interior and deck spaces, and a range that could take you from Monaco to St Tropez or Miami to Key Largo at 25 knots. Sialia Yachts’ new models open up new worlds and new possibilities for zero-emission boating without compromise.

“No one does anything like Sialia Yachts in the 13-35 metre range,” begins Milvio Ricci, Chief Commercial Officer at Sialia Yachts. “No one does planing boats with no compromise – and we don’t compare ourselves to other electric boats, because nothing else like a Sialia Yacht exists in this sphere!”

The Sialia 45 offers scintillating performance while still delivering impressive range. The twin 300kW motors can drive the 45 to a top speed of 43 knots, while a fast cruise of 25 knots allows for a range of 55 nautical miles with the standard 500kWh battery pack, or 77 miles with the additional 200kWh endurance battery pack.

A biodiesel-compatible 140kW range extender can also be specced to push range out to 142 or 164 nautical miles respectively, and with fast-charging capability topping up the batteries from 10% to 90% in three hours even with the endurance pack added, there’s no longer any reason to have range anxiety, or to compromise the extent of your cruising grounds by wanting to cruise faster.

Similar to its larger 59-foot counterpart, the Sialia 45 is available in three distinct versions – Runabout, Sport and Weekender, each offering a different operational profile. The Runabout version features a low-profile windscreen and an open deck layout, reminiscent of performance motorboats; the Sport is based on a centre-console design and includes a T-Top for some elemental protection; the Weekender includes a glass deckhouse that can be closed off at the aft end to create a climate-controlled inside-outside deck saloon – ideal for hotter (and colder) climates.

All models across both the 45 and the 59 series include practical and inviting lower deck layout options with various combinations of midships cabins, plus a full-spec head with shower and a lower galley or saloon area. Different styles and levels of finish can take your Sialia from practical fun boat to full superyacht spec.

On deck, different layout options include expansive deck areas and sunpads aft and forward, with various helm seat configurations and other features that are geared toward making the most of your day or weekend afloat with family or friends.

THE LIFESTYLE
There’s more to electric boats than just silent running, there’s also the change in lifestyle they engender – although in Sialia’s case, the fact that the yacht is electric has not compromised the essence of what a luxury performance cruiser should feel like.

“We are just a cool 45- or 59-foot boat which has an electric drivetrain,” Ricci says. “But some areas are now starting to allow only green boats, so if you want to preserve nature or if you want to explore special areas like marine parks, reefs and so on, we are one of the only options, particularly in this size range.”

“More than that,” he continues, “being on a Sialia Yacht is a totally different experience. The way the Sialia 45 handles, how it planes, how fast it accelerates – these are the characteristics of RIBs and small powerboats, brought to life in a luxurious 45-footer.”

THE LIFE CYCLE
It’s not just in the drivetrain that Sialia Yachts is looking to make a difference. The entire design and production methodology has been developed with lifecycle in mind, from the carbon hulls – which are inherently longer lasting and more recyclable than GRP – to the choice of materials used in the finish. For example, the Sialia 45 has recycled cork flooring as standard, and other recycled and recyclable materials will feature in the finish.

There’s also the reduced maintenance aspect that makes electric motors so appealing – rather than the regular servicing schedule and the various fluids that need to be changed on a combustion engine, the electric motors on Sialia’s yachts need nothing more than a change of grease at 10 years. The batteries are rated to 30,000 cycles and are guaranteed for five years along with the rest of the propulsion system, and all those aspects have been future-proofed by being upgradeable as technology advances, which in turn means less capital depreciation of your yacht over the coming years.

“Our yachts may come at a slight premium – perhaps 15% to 20% over a conventional diesel model – but you have very low maintenance, you have no pollution, and you have almost no cost in diesel for a lot people,” Ricci asserts, “because with up to 77 miles pure electric range at 25 knots for the 45 with Endurance pack they will never need to turn on the range extender for the type of cruising they do.”

Boat owners are already taking notice – Sialia Yachts has already sold one 45 and has two already under construction. The first unit will be launched in summer 2025.

“There really is nothing else like a Sialia Yacht on the market right now,” Ricci concludes, “and we believe our models are not only revolutionary in their size, range and performance, they are transformative in the essence of silent, seaborne living they offer.”
