A new full custom project adds to Tankoa’s growing presence in the large yacht segment.

Tankoa Yachts has announced the sale of the 72-metre T720 Fenice to an American owner, a deal that further strengthens the shipyard’s position in the US market and highlights its capability to deliver complex, tailor-made builds above 70 metres. The client was introduced by owner’s representative Matt Von Bishop together with TWW Yachts’ Jean-Claude Carme.

A fully custom vision

The T720 Fenice is conceived as a fully custom yacht from the ground up, developed closely around the owner’s vision from the earliest design stages.

Exterior design is by Enrico Gobbi’s Team for Design, marking the first collaboration between the studio and Tankoa on a sold project, while the interiors are designed by Giorgio Cassetta. The result is expected to reflect a balance between strong architectural identity and refined detailing, in line with the increasing demand for highly personalised yachts in this size range.

Positioned as a future flagship

At 72 metres (236 feet), the T720 Fenice will become one of the largest yachts in Tankoa’s fleet upon delivery in 2030, joining Casino Royale (formerly SOLO), which currently represents the shipyard at the Palm Beach International Boat Show.

The project builds on the earlier T680 Fenice concept, evolving into a more advanced and detailed platform, with a stronger emphasis on customisation and owner involvement throughout the development process.

A collaborative development process

According to Claudio Corvino, Sales & Business Development Manager at Tankoa Yachts, the project is the result of close collaboration between the shipyard and the owner’s team.

The development process saw the concept refined step by step, with the owner actively involved from the beginning, shaping a yacht defined by precise requirements and a clear design direction.

Strengthening the custom segment

The sale of the T720 Fenice reinforces Tankoa’s focus on the full custom market, where flexibility, technical capability and collaboration with leading designers play a central role.

As demand for highly individual yachts continues to grow, projects like this position the shipyard firmly within the upper tier of bespoke superyacht construction
