F or the first time in its history, Aquila Power Catamarans is unveiling a brand-new model in the heart of the Mediterranean. At the prestigious Cannes Yachting Festival 2025 (September 9-14), the American shipyard will celebrate the world premiere of the Aquila 46 Yacht, a versatile and compact evolution of its acclaimed Explorer line, designed to strengthen the brand’s presence in Europe’s premium yacht market.
Aquila Power Catamarans, the world’s leading power catamaran brand, has chosen the Cannes Yachting Festival 2025 for the global launch of its all-new Aquila 46 Yacht. This unveiling marks a strategic move that underlines the American yard’s commitment to expanding in Europe while offering a fresh take on the Explorer concept already seen on the Aquila 50 Yacht.
Measuring 14.36 metres in length and 7.10 metres in beam, the Aquila 46 Yacht combines a compact profile with an exceptionally spacious layout. Owners can choose between three, four or even five cabin configurations, all with private bathrooms, making the yacht ideal for both private use and charter. A highlight is the full-beam owner’s suite, complete with a central king bed, lounge and study area, and a generous bathroom.
The interior reflects an American sense of style, with a galley overlooking the aft cockpit and a large wet bar – features increasingly in demand in the Mediterranean. The protected flybridge offers convivial spaces and direct access to the foredeck cockpit, while the central staircase leads up to a panoramic sundeck.
Powered by twin Volvo Penta D6 engines of 480 hp each, the yacht achieves a top speed of over 21 knots with remarkable fuel efficiency typical of catamarans. Alternative options include Volvo Penta D4 (320 hp each) or high-performance Yanmar engines (550 hp each).
At Cannes, Aquila will also showcase three more models making their European debut: the 50 Yacht, a larger sibling of the new 46; and the sporty 46 Coupe and 42 Coupe, both equipped with Hydro Glide™ foil technology for speed and efficiency. Together, they represent Aquila’s wide portfolio, spanning from 28 to 70 feet and covering Offshore, Sport, Coupe, Yacht and Luxury lines.
In Italy, Aquila is represented by FC-Yacht, part of the Free Charter Group, which also offers models for charter and trials at its Cannigione marina in Costa Smeralda. “The Aquila 46 Yacht is set to steal the spotlight,” says Carlo Orione, CEO of FC-Yacht. “It offers the space of a 70-foot monohull, strong performance and premium finishes – all in a compact, smartly designed package.”
Free Charter is also presenting flexible ownership solutions such as Rent-to-Buy, Guaranteed Income and Try-to-Buy programs, allowing yacht enthusiasts to tailor their path to ownership while enjoying summers in Sardinia or Greece.
