T bold fusion of art, geometry, and craftsmanship will take the spotlight at Salone del Mobile 2025, where Zuccon International Project joins forces with Cadorin to unveil Azteca — a flooring design inspired by the rich visual language of Aztec culture.\
Zuccon International Project and Cadorin are excited to announce their participation in Salone del Mobile 2025 and the presentation of ‘Azteca’, a refined wood floor covering that interprets the dialogue between art and design in a new way. Achieving a clever balance between geometrical shapes, optical illusions and references to ancient civilisations and their decorative traditions, Azteca acts as a bridge between past and present, transforming the floor into a visual and sensory experience.
The result of synergy between the design vision of Zuccon International Project and the master craftsmanship of Cadorin, Azteca stands out for its modular design based on the triangle, a symbolic element that represents balance, cyclicality and harmony between opposing but complementary forces. Specifically, the triangle featured in the design is linked to the concept of triad, and together they generate stability and transformation, evoking the relationship between body, mind and spirit, between past, present and future, and finally between sun, energy and lifeblood, water, fertility and nourishment, and wind, knowledge and creation.
Advanced laser technology transforms the geometrical design into a three-dimensional sensory experience, in which the play between light, form and matter generates ever new and ever surprising perspectives. Every installation creates unique optical effects, inviting the observer to explore new perceptions of space and interact dynamically with the surface.
Made from prized wood varieties including oak, walnut and elm, Azteca is produced with a precision milling process that showcases the textures and visual depth of the material. Precision laser engravings sculpt sophisticated geometrical patterns into the wood, giving life to a floor covering that evolves with the light and the viewer’s gaze. The finishings, available in colours that range from neutral and natural to bolder shades such as carbon, rust and aquamarine, amplify the aesthetic effect and pave the way to comprehensive personalisation of the settings.
The new Azteca collection, produced on European select oak planks, conjures up an integrated vision embracing architecture, design and innovation. The meeting between the material and the pattern creates a refined, dynamic aesthetic. The surface produced on planks obtained from carefully selected European oak wood, an absolutely pure material supported by a balanced texture, is exhibited on the floor: with Azteca, plank modules generate new visual schemes where sequences of triangles define new patterns across the planks. The chalk powder finish points up the natural colours of the wood, adding a contemporary touch of softness.
Bernardo Zuccon, Zuccon International Project: “Azteca isn’t just a floor covering but a dynamic work that reveals itself to those who can ‘read between the lines’. Every single piece is interwoven with the others, giving life to various geometrical compositions that take the eye on a journey, creating a weave that is constantly evolving depending on the laying pattern, and drawing angles and perspectives that challenge perception.”
Rita Cadorin, Cadorin Group: “Working with Azteca during the production phase was a process of continuous discovery: an enhanced pattern that reveals infinite variations of designs across the planks, depending on the arrangement of the modules. The decoration lets the wood breathe, showcasing the material qualities and potential for expression offered by laser engraving. Azteca achieves a perfect balance between design and material.
Salone del Mobile 2025 – in the exhibition space dedicated to S. Project within Pavilion 18 (D1) – will be the perfect opportunity to discover the elegance and versatility of Azteca, a project that celebrates the merging of past and future, tradition and innovation, functionality and visual emotion.
