Italian yacht manufacturer Baglietto – who is celebrating its 170th Anniversary this year and was recently awarded as Best Shipyard of the Year at the World Yachts Trophies in Cannes – takes part to the Monaco Yacht Show with two world premières: T52 MY Akula (Berth C11) and DOM133 MY Barbara Anne (Berth C12).
MOTOR YACHT “AKULA”
The dark grey hull endows this 52 displacement steel and aluminium yacht with a powerful, aggressive look; her exteriors have been pencilled by Francesco Paszkowski Design, while interiors are by Team for Design – Enrico Gobbi in cooperation with architect Carlo Lionetti.
Modern, classy, contemporary style pervades all interiors, enriched by elegant and sophisticated details which convey a sense of sober, refined luxury, never flashy or showy. Custom features on this yacht include soft-hued woods like oak and other natural materials that appeal to the sense of touch, with wall and cabinet frames in brass and other metals adding brightness and even-lighter colour touches to the ensemble. Inside, every area is separate and identified by a distinctive detail that exudes sophistication and elegance, also thanks to a skilful use of lighting: indirect lights outline the soft curves of the ceiling and the walls, which draw inspiration from the aviation sector, reminding of the soft, rounded shape of a fuselage. Throughout the interiors, the colours of nature – from the ivory and dark shades of the soil to a wide palette of ochre and orange – evoke the warm shades of sunset and dawn, but also those of sun-kissed rocks. Murano glass vases, sculptures, works of art, and lamps are all unique pieces specially designed for this vessel by Italian artists and designers, including by the yacht’s designer, as is the case of the warrior at the entrance. Worth mentioning is also the artistic glazing of the stairwell, also in the gleaming colours of sunset, made by a renowned artist from Vetreria Veneziana from sketches by the yacht’s designer.
Outdoor, decor plays with the infinite shades of blue and light blue surrounding the vessel while also maintaining a smooth connection with the interiors, also thanks to large fully-opening windows, which are one of the main strengths of this line.
AKULA has indeed preserved the key features that have made the success of the T52 line – from the open stern hosting a beach club on 3 levels to the sky lounge on the upper deck, which, opening on 3 sides thanks to fully-concealable floor-to-ceiling windows, maintains an incredibly close contact with the sea even when spending time indoors. Noteworthy is also the aft area, where the garage has been replaced by a convenient gym area, moving the 2 jet skies and the 5.5-m tender to the bow.
MOTOR YACHT “BARBARA ANNE”
Motor Yacht Barbare Anne preserves the design innovations introduced by Stefano Vafiadis in the Dom 133 with a view to maximising a sense of openness and ensuring the closest possible contact with the sea: with the main deck ventilation ducts now moved outside, for instance, the main saloon can now feature a magnificent fully-glazed window on the left side. On the upper deck, two floor-to-ceiling windows open onto as many side balconies. Aft, the pool on two levels has the yacht’s logo engraved on the bottom, while the pool on the sun deck is fully custom, having been specially designed and built for this hull.
The interiors have been pencilled by Leonardo Santi drawing inspiration from car design, including the unique shades of iconic brands in the automotive sector: Ferrari red, green, and blue and Lamborghini orange pervade the guest cabins on the lower deck, while the wheelhouse, featuring a bronze-coated carbon top, has grille inserts reminding of those of sports cars.
The warm cream and bronze colour palette and the light-shade wood, both smooth and striped, with LED inserts and bronze-coated finishes endow this vessel with a very contemporary style and a sober, refined elegance. Worthy of note is also the central staircase, where the alternation of bronze-shade ribbed panels and light strips create a modern and original dynamic effect. The Murano glass chandelier adds a rich, artistic touch to the staircase.
In the sky lounge, the heart of the lounge area is the bar, whose sober, slender lines turn into extraordinary shapes and effects thanks to the use of precious materials, like the backlit white onyx of the bar unit and the wall behind it, adding an original feel to the whole ambience.
All furniture and fabrics, both indoors and outdoors, are an exquisite expression of Italian design. Inside, top brands like Minotti, Paolo Castelli, Casamilano, Foglizzo, Dedar, Rubelli and Maria Flora perfectly complement each other to create a refined, sophisticated atmosphere.
This aluminium displacement yacht mounts two Caterpillar C32 engines that allow her to reach an impressive maximum speed of 17 knots.
